My Last Ford Truck

HOME PAGE

Can you just imagine what it would be like to buy a new vehicle TODAY and actually have it do the job that they advertise it to do.  I have a 2004 FORD SUPER DUTY with the 6.0 DIESEL that is just not up to par.  Twice now the TURBO HOSE has blown off leaving me almost powerless trying to get my trailer off the highway.  Now a few months ago it started running very poorly with what the dealership called a "severe run condition".  I took it to the nearest authorized FORD DEALERSHIP in Wawa, ON (NORTHERN LIGHTS FORD) for what I thought was a diagnosis.  There was never any work order signed or verbal authorization to do repairs.  They had it for a week or so and when I called them to check on it, I was informed that it was ready and the bill was $655.23 cash.  Imagine my surprise.  This vehicle was only a week out of warranty when I first talked with Jeff Austin the service manager and he informed me at that time that retail repairs might run in the area of $150 - $250.  He also made a statement that I hadn't "contributed" to their dealership so I would probably be responsible for those retail repairs.  I bought this DIESEL expecting it to be durable and dependable enough to pull a trailer occasionally.  With only 114423 km (71099 miles) it should barely be broken in.  Mind you this part that they replaced doesn't even move.  The ICP (injector control pressure) and its related harness where allegedly replaced. This has been a serious enough problem to warrant engineering to relocate it from under the turbo to the top of the valve cover.  I wonder now what the rest of this engine is like?  I did talk with Ford of Canada (Arnold, Michelle and Douglas) about this issue and they all concur with the dealership's policy on contributions to their service department.  I bought a new GMC pickup way back in 1991 and have never had to "contribute" to a dealership to get service or for that matter it never needed service.  What a dependable vehicle, just turned over 270000 miles (434522 km) .  Of course I did go through a few sets of tires and changed the plugs a few times.  Oh by the way, the selling dealer was (HIGHLAND FORD) in Sault Ste Marie, ON  and I could not even get them to replace the radio in this vehicle when it was a week old unless I was willing to drive 200 miles to their service department. *****UPDATE - 11/16/10 THIS PIECE OF CRAP FAILED AGAIN WHEN ONLY 200 MILES FROM HOME - ANOTHER REPAIR OF $900.00 FOR A NEW FICM. ALSO COST ME TOWING AND 5 DAYS IN A MOTEL WHILE THE DEALER REPAIRED THIS FINE PIECE OF EQUIPMENT THAT NOW HAS ONLY 143,000 KM (88,856 MILES)

+++++UPDATE - 9/29/11 YEAH IT SHIT ITSELF AGAIN - ONLY THIS TIME IT MANAGED TO RUN PROPERLY FOR JUST OVER 10 MONTHS- SAME LONG OVER THE ROAD RALLY OF 200 MILES AND OF COURSE NOT MUCH IN BETWEEN. IT NOW HAS AMASSED A GRAND TOTAL OF 166,000 KM (103,148 MILES). WHAT NOW?  SAULT MOTORS IN MICHIGAN DIAGNOSED IT AS A STUCK EGR WITH BAD #1 & #8 INJECTORS AND POSSIBLE BROKEN TIP ON INJECTOR (HOW DOES THAT HAPPEN?) ANYWAYS ESTIMATE TO START AT $2000 WITH NO GUARANTEES OF BOTTOM LINE. THE $600 TO TOW THIS FLOWER POT BACK TO THE GARDEN WHERE IT BELONGS SEEMS TO HAVE BEEN THE BEST CHOICE CONSIDERING THE CIRCUMSTANCES.  CANADA NEEDS A LEMON LAW LIKE THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA - 290,000 MILES ON THE OLD GMC TO DATE AND IT STARTS AND RUNS EVERYDAY.

*** THIS IS ONE OF THOSE 2003 ENGINES (ICP AT BACK OF ENGINE) DUMPED INTO A 2004 MODEL YEAR VEHICLE****AND FORD MOTOR COMPANY COULDN'T CARE LESS. WHAT A WASTE OF $54000.00 CANADIAN DOLLARS
